The Group Today

The Oxford Geology Group is an dynamic and flourishing society with over 80 enthusiastic members whose ages range from 17 to 90. Our membership includes every type of geologist from recreational fossil and mineral hunters to academic and professional geologists.

We have a programme which includes monthly lectures (every month of the year except August), monthly field meetings, twice yearly residential field meeting an annual expedition abroad, and a series of workshops to help develop skills and knowledge. In partnership with our colleagues at Oxfordshire Geology Trust we help to maintain sites of geological importance. Four geo-rambles per year give members the opportunity to visit sites around the county on foot to admire the geology, geomorphology and landscape.
